Tourism in Dubai Surges, Welcoming Over Nine Million International Visitors in the First Half of 2025, Marking a 6% Growth Compared to 2024

Dubai saw a notable increase in international tourism in the first half of 2025, attracting 9.88 million overnight visitors between January and June. This represents a 6% growth compared to the same period in 2024, as reported by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). The city’s surge in visitors is attributed to its strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors, highly effective global marketing campaigns, and a variety of prominent events and new developments, further solidifying Dubai’s status as a premier global travel destination.
A Strategic Growth Approach
A multifaceted strategy involving global campaigns, strategic partnerships, and a dynamic hospitality sector has contributed to Dubai’s rise as a global tourism powerhouse. DET’s market strategy, which collaborates with over 3,000 global and domestic partners, has targeted key regions and demographics. As a result, the city attracted diverse international visitors from both established and emerging markets.
According to the latest DET data, the majority of visitors came from Western Europe, contributing 22% of the total international arrivals. The GCC and MENA markets also played a significant role, representing a combined 26% of visitors to Dubai. The breakdown is as follows: 2.12 million visitors from Western Europe, 1.52 million from CIS and Eastern Europe, 1.44 million from South Asia, and 894,000 from East and Southeast Asia. Other regions, including the Americas, Africa, and Australasia, rounded out the city’s growing international visitor base.
Hospitality Sector Flourishes
Dubai continues to be a preferred destination for international travelers, thanks to its extensive offerings in accommodation, safety, and connectivity. The city’s hospitality sector achieved notable success in the first half of 2025, with impressive occupancy rates and revenue growth. Dubai’s hotel inventory saw expansion through new openings such as Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, Cheval Maison, and The Biltmore Hotel Villas. As a result, the emirate’s hotel occupancy rate reached 80.6%, up from 78.7% in the same period in 2024.
The number of available hotel rooms in Dubai surpassed 152,000 by June 2025, with 822 establishments providing a variety of accommodations to cater to all types of travelers. Furthermore, the average daily rate (ADR) for hotels rose by 5%, reaching AED 584, while revenue per available room (RevPAR) increased by 7%, amounting to AED 471. These metrics underline the resilience and appeal of Dubai’s hospitality sector.
Dynamic Global Marketing Campaigns
A cornerstone of Dubai’s tourism strategy lies in its impactful global marketing campaigns. In the first half of 2025, Visit Dubai launched a series of campaigns targeting a wide range of audiences across various markets. Notable campaigns featured high-profile international celebrities, including Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi in the “Find Your Story” initiative, and Indian superstars Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma in “Dubai, Ready for a Surprise?” Additionally, South Korean actors Park Seo Jun, Choi Woo Shik, and Park Hyung Sik participated in the “Dubai, Who’s Ready?” campaign. These initiatives have significantly amplified Dubai’s global presence, attracting new visitors and reinforcing its allure for returning travelers.
Strategic Partnerships and Major Openings
Dubai’s tourism growth is further propelled by a series of strategic partnerships. The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism has secured influential agreements with renowned global hospitality brands such as Marriott International, Hyatt, and Premier Inn, expanding the city’s accommodation offerings. Among the most anticipated upcoming openings are the Mandarin Oriental Downtown Dubai, ZUHHA Island on The World Islands, and Ciel Dubai Marina, set to become the world’s tallest all-hotel tower, further enhancing Dubai’s stature as a leading global destination.
International Accolades and Recognition
Dubai’s dedication to accessibility and enhancing its global appeal has garnered international recognition. A significant achievement in 2025 was Dubai’s distinction as the first Certified Autism Destination
in the Eastern Hemisphere, highlighting its commitment to inclusive travel experiences. Additionally, the city earned top rankings in the 2025 Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards and was named the best city for solo female travelers by InsureMyTrip, receiving outstanding marks for safety.
Dubai also continues to excel in business tourism, with Dubai Business Events (DBE) securing 249 successful bids for international conferences and congresses in the first half of 2025. These events are set to attract over 127,000 delegates, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global business hub.
Dubai’s Culinary Scene Gains Global Recognition
Gastronomy plays a pivotal role in Dubai’s tourism appeal, with the city’s dynamic culinary landscape drawing international acclaim. The MICHELIN Guide Dubai 2025, released in May, highlighted 119 restaurants offering 35 diverse cuisines. This edition marked a historic achievement, featuring Dubai’s first-ever three-star MICHELIN restaurants: FZN by Björn Frantzén and Trèsind Studio. Björn Frantzén made history as the first chef in the world to earn three Michelin stars for three different restaurants across the globe.
In addition, the 2025 World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, announced in June, featured two Dubai-based restaurants—Trèsind Studio at No.27 and Orfali Bros at No.37. Trèsind Studio was also named the best restaurant in the Middle East, underscoring Dubai’s growing influence in the global culinary landscape.
Looking Forward: Dubai’s Future in Tourism
As Dubai continues to evolve as a world-class destination, its strategic use of global partnerships, marketing campaigns, and new developments ensures its place at the forefront of international tourism. With an ever-expanding hotel inventory, dynamic global events, and the global recognition of its culinary and business offerings, Dubai is positioned for continued growth in the coming years.
Through its robust and inclusive approach to tourism development, Dubai has proven its ability to adapt to the needs of both international visitors and the global market, making it one of the most sought-after destinations in the world.
